What explains terrible decisions?

Unwilling to share freedom, wealth and power, a  remarkably small group of people sparked the American Civil War.  They killed more than half a million people, created economic and social scars that remain today, and lost much of what they had coveted.

To explain this poor choice, students apply 20 specific concepts about data errors, stakeholders, time, social realities, psychological biases + group dynamics.
